There was time prior to meeting start to travel down TV memory lane. Many members recall getting their first color TV and some their first TV. Romper Room and Shari Lewis & Puppets were among the shows mentioned.
Andrea began the meeting with Happy Bucks.
Happy Bucks
Bob-Very glad to see Andy Swarthout will return to our meetings soon. Also, Bob spent the weekend in Dallas with other daredevil pilots from his barnstorming days as well as producers of said shows. Many great stories and, due to the unfiltered nature of said stories, none were recorded.
Cindy-Enjoyed PETS training for new incoming Presidents but slightly overwhelmed with all the material to learn.
John-Also, happy to hear from Andy and enjoyed volunteering at The Marana Food Bank
Don-Was a presenter at SW PETS and good to see old Rotary friends from his days as District Governor
Kathy-Praised the giant mural near Alameda and Church streets. Highly recommends the Mural Tour downtown Tucson
Mark-Enjoyed the four-day weekend by hiking Tumamoc Hill and Sombrero Peak. Apparently The Peak kicked his tush as he finished on his hands and knees.
Dan-Also enjoyed the four-day weekend except for that time over two hours spent with grandkids. Just kidding, the first two hours were wonderful and the rest maybe less so?
Harald-Enjoyed time with grandchildren and announced we have collected almost $25,000 for Tour de Cookie
Laura-After decades in her family home she is having overhead lighting installed in her dining room. She stated the decades of low light did not seem to deter anyone's appetite.
Beckie-Healthy and happy. Enjoying the toddler state of one of her two grandbabies
Andrea-Happy to hear of Andy Swarthmore's return. Busy at work and that is good
March 6th is MCAT Student Showcase. Bob, Don and John will represent our Club. Mark and Dan, as MUSD Administrators may also be in attendance
Andrea leaving for Chile and will return 3/12/2025. She will miss the next two meetings and Tour de Cookie. John has agreed to fill in as meeting leader.
Trying to change date of our CPR training to 3/18/2025.
The Rotary Vocational Fund is in need of Board members. Bob Bishop said he is willing to serve if chosen.
TOUR DE COOKIE
Next meeting, 3/4/2025, will be used to stuff the Tour de Cookie backpacks. We MAY meet at Crossroads Park concession stand. This is where riders can sign in on Saturday. If not possible we will meet at NWFD training facility as usual.
May have as many as 540 riders enrolled for the ride, typically there is a 10% no show. Revenue to date is $25,000. The route is straight so less need of directional signs. Much discussion of most expedient delivery of rider package including T-shirt. If Crossroads Park concession stand is large enough and available, it may be used for packet stuffing Tuesday as well as package pickup Friday from 12-6.
Due to large size of park members encouraged adequate directional signage to concession stand and loop access.
Meeting adjourned.
