Marana Rotarians joined forces with dozens and dozens of military families, volunteers, and fellow northwest Rotarians to lay wreaths on the graves of 2,500 veterans buried at the Arizona Veterans Cemetery - Marana on December 17.
 
The Rotary Club of Marana purchased $750 worth of wreaths for the “Wreaths Across America” commemoration held at veterans’ cemeteries across the country.
 
The ceremony started at 10 a.m. with ceremonial laying of wreaths for each branch of the military, followed by several speakers who acknowledged the sacrifice of not only veterans but also their families.

​​​​​​​Community groups, such as local Girl Scout troops and Boy Scout troops participated, as well as numerous veterans groups.
 
After the hourlong program, organizers dispatched the volunteers to lay the wreaths on every gravestone or columbarium marker.
 
Marana Rotary joined with fellow Rotarians from Dove Mountain Rotary, SaddleBrook Rotary, Oro Valley and Catalina for the service project. Afterward, club members met up at Dove Mountain Brewery for some social time.
