Hermosillo Microcredit Project
A project in Hermosillo, Mexico was discussed.
Details
Don: Explained that the project provides microloans to entrepreneurs in the Hermosillo area. The average loan is around $500. Project has a 75-80% success rate for loan repayment. There will be a trip to Hermosillo, MX in January with Don and Cindy attending. It is open to all members.
Information about human trafficking in Pima County was shared.
Details
Cindy: Mentioned attending a presentation about human trafficking with Don. She noted that there are significant human trafficking issues in Pima County, including in Marana. Cindy reported that the number of police officers dealing with human trafficking has increased from one part-time officer to six full-time officers
Beverly: Asked about the status of a "dream center" that was previously discussed. She was advised there has been no known progress.
Jim Click Raffle Fundraiser
Harold presented information about the Jim Click raffle fundraiser.
Details
Harold: Explained that Jim Click is giving away a new car as first prize, a round trip for two as second prize, and $5,000 as third prize, tickets are $25 each or five for $100. Our Club gets to keep all funds raised through ticket sales
Harold: Distributed tickets to members who wanted them and requested they be returned by December 5th. No member is required to take or buy tickets. Harold reporting $625.00 already collected.
Rose Bowl Parade
Details
Cindy: Mentioned receiving communication about the Rose Bowl Parade. Rotary has a float in the parade every year for the past 46 years. Cindy mentioned that PDG Sue Archibald has taken her grandson and other kids to help work on floats in previous years. Members can help build the float if interested
